Satellite State was a green, then black-bloc C5 nation founded on October 13, 2021, by Yintel under the alias Conrad, making it their second nation and first reroll. The nation maintained five cities throughout its existence, primarily to raid lower tier nations for financial gain while concealing the true identity of its owner.

Influenced by strategies from Space Invaders, Satellite State later shifted focus towards maximizing war profits. At its peak, the nation ranked 14th globally in war profits in the past week.[2]

History[]

On October 13, 2021, Satellite State was founded under the alias Conrad. For the first eight days of its existence, no one was aware of its true owner.

On October 14, 2021, Satellite State applied to Cataclysm. However, two days later, on October 16, the nation withdrew its application and instead joined Space Invaders, where it was ultimately accepted.

After a successful application on December 8, 2021, Satellite State was promoted to a role in the internal affairs department of Space Invaders.

On December 13, 2021, Satellite State left Space Invaders to join the Black Skies, where it remained until the end of the month. After another successful application, Satellite State was promoted to lieutenant for internal affairs in Black Skies on December 30, 2021. The nation then became increasingly inactive in the early days of the new year.

On January 7, 2022, Satellite State entered 200 days of vacation mode[1], and was permanently deleted on February 24, 2022.

Conrad[]

Conrad was an alternate Discord account created in September the same year. Originally, Conrad was meant for trolling Yintel’s close group of friends, but they devised a plan to use it to discreetly create a second nation while Trexizia, Yintel’s main nation, remained in vacation mode. The original Conrad account was deleted on January 19 the following year, after which a new account of the same name was made and still exists today.

Characteristics[]

Conrad’s character was designed as a seventeen-year-old from Adelaide, Australia, with prior experience playing Politics and War. The decision to assign this fictional identity to Conrad was due to time zone considerations. Originally, Conrad was meant to be from Central Europe (CET), but the significant time zone difference made role-playing less convincing, eventually settling with Adelaide (ACST) as it was only two and a half hours ahead.

The strategy of establishing a completely fake persona proved highly effective, as no players initially suspected that Satellite State was operated by Yintel the cover was eventually compromised when Yintel themselves playfully teased clues to their friend, Titan, leading Titan to successfully identify Satellite State within three days.

Conrad's diary[]

After 996 days of inactivity, a typically overlooked channel called #conrads-diary in Yintel's personal Discord server was rediscovered on October 11, 2024, just two days before the third year since Satellite State's creation. The channel featured posts from Yintel's experience playing the game as Conrad. They discussed everything from coming up with a strategy to keep the identity of the the nation's real owner a secret to somewhat more personal topics like what to change their profile picture for the holidays.

Idag är torsdag, 2021 oktober 14.

Yesterday I joined Politics and war under the name Conrad. I plan on deleting this account (@Yintel) and making @Conrad my main account by November 20.

There are indeed a lot of downsides, but there are advantages, including getting to reset my identity and getting to see nsfw channels unlike before.

Hopefully I can win some nitro on this account as well. I got lucky with @Yintel. For 4 months. I won for 4 months straight.

About P&W, I'm going to join black skies at the same day I joined last year. Which, you guessed it, was November 21, 2020. The story goes like "I've joined another alliance before this, and I've been playing for a month now, so I'm definitely not a thirteen year old kid, what are you talking about", and yes I've been planning this. Since September.

The plan just used to be a prank on Titan, but now I see another use for @Conrad, and I'm going to make the most of it.

Anyways, today marks my first 24 hours as satellite state on P&W. The alliance I'm applying to, Cataclysm, has bullsh*t response times, worse than Titan's. I'm just going to have to go with it, though, as if I back of now, it's going to be a waste of time on beige

Nation design[]

During its time in Space Invaders, Satellite State adopted a minimalist black-and-white design, characterized by random black scribbles on a plain white background that appeared throughout the nation's page, which aligned with Space Invaders’ monochromatic doodle flag, which was created in just 30 seconds using the Samsung mobile gallery app.

From December 13 onward, the nation adopted an invisible theme, featuring blank PNG images and all custom text fields substituted with the U+3164 Hangul Filler Character (ㅤ), rendering the nation’s page effectively blank.

Pop culture references[]

Satellite State's theme incorporated some pop culture references from Tiktok, most notably its leader name being Gogy Wogy, a nickname coined on the social media platform for Minecraft YouTuber and former DSMP member GeorgeNotFound[3]. The nation's anthem also featured a number of trends on TikTok in fall of 2021, such as Oh No, Our Table, It's Broken.

Satellite State briefly experimented with a more colorful design, featuring a flag with a duck and a flashing background. The nation’s page was set to reflect a similar vibrant theme, though this design was never entirely implemented.

The duck flag was briefly set as the nation’s official flag for one day in late November 2021 before being reverted to the previous design.

Secret identity and lack of documentation[]

Yintel actively sought to minimize any trace of Satellite State’s existence to prevent the nation’s true ownership from being discovered. This led to the deletion or concealment of nearly all evidence, such as screenshots, was deleted or hidden purposely to have them fade into obscurity. There is no Internet Archive of Satellite State's nation page. Despite these efforts, some very obscure fragments of evidence remain.

A solid piece of evidence proving this nation's existence is Yintel verifying the nation in the Politics and War Discord server using Conrad, now appearing as a deleted user. Satellite State also appeared on several war profit leaderboards appearing in the Space Invaders server, however this information is inaccessible due to the lack of necessary permissions to view the channels.

Conrad interacted with only three players aside from Yintel’s main account. The most notable interaction was with Caeso, who initiated contact through a direct message on October 14, 2021, with a recruitment message.

Post-mortem[]

After Satellite State went into Vacation mode on January 7, 2022 it stayed inactive for a little longer than a month, remaining in the Black Skies during its rebrand to ThunderStruck. It was eventually deleted on February 24, 2022. The nation had over $200,000,000 in it, not including the value of the resources.

Following its entry into vacation mode on January 7, 2022, Satellite State remained inactive for over a month. During this period, Black Skies (1st) rebranded into ThunderStruck. Satellite State was ultimately deleted on February 24, 2022 in favor of playing the game under Duoland. At the time of deletion, the nation held over $200,000,000 in assets, excluding resource stockpiles.
