Samurai (Sam /sˈæm/) is a 1046-day-old, red pirate raiding alliance founded on August 1, 2022. Led by its current shogun Eleazar, it is the highest-ranking pirate alliance, surpassing Arrgh in score in early 2025. The alliance is competitive with raiding policies, notably consistently ranking first among alliances with the greatest profits in the last week and month globally. The alliance has participated in several major conflicts since its inception and has maintained a presence in the game’s political landscape.
History
On August 1, 2022, Samurai was founded as a Camelot extension[2] of members who wanted to play the game on their own terms. In early 2023, the alliance notably raided several micros and subsequently coined the term "micros killer." The alliance participated in several conflicts, including Ragnarök alongside Aurora against Midgard, which ended in a White Peace.[3][4] In September, the alliance took part in Alan Tripped and Fell, fighting alongside BROTHERHOOD FAMILY against Black Skies. A White Peace was signed between BROTHERHOOD FAMILY, Samurai, and Black Skies on October 1,[5] with other participants reaching separate agreements two weeks later.[6]
From January to February, the alliance engaged in One Day War against SAIL, alongside Singularity achieving net positive damage with only six active members. Leadership then transitioned when Tointlu II stepped down as shogun on February 24, appointing Eleazar as his successor. By March 10, the alliance started appearing among the top three alliances in weekly war profits. The alliance’s score continued to rise, surpassing 60,000 on April 19, entering the top 50 alliances by score on June 20, and exceeding 120,000 on July 23.
In November 2024, Samurai, alongside Camelot, launched an offensive against Arrgh in response to its Reverse Nuke Auction. The conflict lasted 27 days before the Camelot coalition surrendered, later blitzing United Socialist Nations and Mayhem framed as a "Christmas Greeting." After the war, Smoking Snakes merged into the the alliance.
In 2025, it surpassed Arrgh in score, becoming the highest-ranking pirate-raiding alliance on March 11. The alliance fought in the Global War 34 as part of the Cam vs. Rose Redo, with net damages valued at over $64 billion.[7]
On May 26, the alliance entered an Arrgh coalition to blitz The Fighting Pacifists following the final results of Total Drama Orbis!.[note 1][8] Four days later, the alliance joined a Camelot-led effort to declare on their M-level ally, Rose, mainly arguing that they "ignored [their] MDP ally getting rolled because of [Rose's] MDP breach."[9][10] Samurai has dealt over $22 billion in net damages by May 30.[11]
Government
Daimyo's Caste
The alliance does not have a ratified constitution, instead functioning by precedent set by former or current government members, regulated by the incumbent shogun's supreme authority. Samurai is officially a military dictatorship, though its governance style is more akin to a meritocratic autocracy; Shoguns theoretically hold absolute power but rarely exhibit the oppressive traits typical of dictatorships.
Since the May 5, 2025 reform, the alliance's government, dubbed Daimyo’s Caste, became more centralized around the shogun. It is organized into five ranks and split into two condensed departments: Noka, which oversees IA and EA, and Wokou, which handles MA and FA. Each department is led by a Vice Shogun, assisted by Elite deputies, and may include several Captain members.
Bushido are apprentices within the Caste who train under Captains and Elites to learn the alliance's ideology and governance. They are considered for promotion based on merit and mentorship. While all caste members (except Bushido) are assigned to a specific department, they may mentor members from other areas to the best of their ability.
Past governments
In its early days, the alliance was more heavily dependent on Camelot, and its government structure closely resembled that of its parent alliance. Under Aliyan's leadership in 2022, the government was organized into three primary ranks: Leader as the first in command, Heir as the second in command, and 🏯 Daimyo as the third in command. During Tointlu II’s shogunate from 2023 to 2024, the alliance began to distance itself from Camelot structurally, expanding and renaming its ranks to better reflect its evolving identity. The original positions were rebranded as 🐿️Shogun, 👹Samurai, and 🐎Marauder, respectively.
The government further expanded under the current Eleazar shogunate. The leader remains the 💀 Shogun, while the second in command is now referred to as the 💀 Vice Shogun. The 3ic position was renamed 👹 Elite Daimyo. As the alliance grew, two additional ranks were introduced under Eleazar’s shogunate: the 🌊 Captain as the fourth in command, established early in his term, and the 🐱 Bushido as the fifth in command, formally introduced on February 11, 2025. This linear heirarchy of government members was in place until the Daimyo's Caste reform on May 5, 2025.
List of shoguns of Samurai
Under the current formation, the shogun is the head of government of Samurai who oversees operations in both government departments. The office was established during the alliance’s formative days, when it consisted primarily of former Camelot members who had separated from the main alliance to raid larger, C20-tier nations. Initially, the shogunate was filled by appointment from King Epimetheus of Camelot, who selected the first three shoguns. However, as Samurai grew more independent from its parent alliance, Tointlu II appointed Eleazar as his successor in February 2024, establishing the precedent of shoguns being chosen by their predecessors rather than by external authority. Contrary to popular belief,[note 2] Rageproject was not the successor to Aliyan, only serving as 2ic to Don Trump, and never holding the shogunate himself.

Theme

Samurai's flag in early 2024.
The alliance mainly derives its theme from samurais, which were historical warriors in Japan until the Meiji era.[16][17] The color scheme of the alliance's page complemented this, being predominantly red, maroon, and black until early 2024,[15] but has since switched to a nautical, sailor theme based on The Great Wave off Kanagawa.[14]
"With our desire, we come to you. With our loot, we leave you. We get drunk and sing on your land. Our legend spreads from the Pacific to the Atlantic."
The alliance regularly adopts commemorative flags during special occasions, notably April fools and wartime. It consistently brands itself as a "home for the outcasts,"[18] an alliance where players may explore their pirating capacity in the game with few limitations. This mirrors Camelot's theme as the "rebel alliance of Politics & War."[19] Despite featuring "Every new player is required to follow our guide and command, no exceptions!" on the alliance page, a low-tier reroll, Hino, has notably been an exception to the rule.
List of wars involving Samurai
Founded with the intent of raiding freely, Samurai quickly became known for its frequent raids with micros and nanos during its early days. While originally focused on low-tier warfare, the alliance has also participated in larger conflicts, often aligning with its parent alliance, Camelot, during global and alliance wars.
The alliance has had a historically uneven member city distribution favoring low-tier warfare; It hosted a record 33 nations below C10[20]—more than every other city tier in the alliance in its history. This theoretical low-tier advantage was almost always undercut by inactivity and defiance among newer members. By May 2025, the alliance has started investing in building its low-tier up to C20 to bettre support its high-tier, which have frequently represented the alliance on the frontlines of conflicts. Samurai has taken part in two global wars: One Day War and Global War 34.

Public image
Samurai is generally considered to be a staunch Camelot ally, and a macro-level, pirate-raiding, mercenary alliance, with some members being regarded as some of the top raiders in-game. The alliance is frequently compared to Arrgh for being similar in nature. As the alliance has a history of blitzing micros for fun, victims from these alliances have expressed criticism for the alliance's unforgiving raiding ideology.
Although the alliance was founded in 2022, the general public only started to notice the then-micro in the following year. Due to its heavy association with its parent alliance, the alliance was often colloquially referred to as "Cam/Samurai" until mid-2023, with some denying the alliance's independence from Camelot. This association has since weakened; The alliance is now rivaling Arrgh's dominance among pirate alliances, and King Epimetheus jokingly quipped during Dance of the Dragons: "If anything we're Samurai's extension rn." Despite this, both alliances are still ofren referred to as simply "Camelot" whenever the coalition makes joint decisions, i.e., war declarations.
The alliance was involved in some controversy about Camelot breaking the 90-day[24] Double Down NAP, with the alliance itself blitzing SFR Yugoslavia and Magister Mortalis. Former FA Archduke SeaFyre stated on the forum that Camelot does not "control their FA or dictate [Samurai's] targets," adding that "they are not under the NAP's protection, contrary to any jokes or statements otherwise."[25] Eleazar, the newly appointed shogun at the time, refuted that SFR Yugoslavia was not under the NAP's terms as it was not involved in Double Down, and that The Coal Mines was the only one who broke the treaty.
Alliance affairs
Camelot influence
Samurai has always been a close ally of Camelot as members of their community, often taking their side in wartime as seen in Dance of the Dragons. However, the alliance functions independently, engaging in its own diplomatic activities, only signing an ODoAP with Camelot.
In its infancy, the alliance functioned as an extension rather than an independent entity, with its founding members being former Camelot government members. Though the alliance "swears fealty to their King and Prince," this is mostly symbolic, with King Epimetheus only holding an economic advisory role within the alliance.
Active treaties
As of May 2025, the alliance has an active ODoAP with Camelot.[1]

Notes
- ↑ Although Weebunism also lost the nuke event, Samurai has dealt less than 0.6% of their inflicted damages to them, mainly concentrating their attacks against The Fighting Pacifists.
- ↑ Eleazar stated April 23 "before MAGA is Rage of THT today", which was debunked the next day by Tointlu II
- ↑ Samurai's Rose front started four days after Total Drama Orbis! started.
