Summary of the Russian Federation Edit

The Russian Federation was founded after the collapse of the Soviet Union in October of 1988. The failure of hardline communists to reverse the reforms of then General Secretary of the Communist Party of Russia led to the inevitable collapse of Soviet rule and the demise of the communists as a whole. Riding a wave of general nationalism, and a sense of cultural unity, Sindorin Dolgorukiy was elected as Russia's President in the following elections. After entering office, Russia declared it's independence from the Soviet Union and became a Federation under the new Constitution of 1989. It is classified as a European nation and has ties with, and is a standing member of the Earth Systems Alliance.

History of the Russian Federation Edit

At the end of 1988, the newly created Executive branch of the Russian Federation, headed by President Sindorin, petitioned the membership bureau of the Socialist International for admittance after the collapse of Soviet rule. After a short debate, the nation was admitted as a member and part of the governing body as a member state. President Sindorin assumed the role of Director of Propaganda in the Politburo, though after a time resigned over harsh domestic policies of the President of the Socialist International.

Though generally peaceful, there have been several conflicts, most notably with the forces of the United States of America, in which Russian forces were able to repel and force the surrender of it's American enemies in combat. The resulting peace has eliminated the possibility of American reprisals and also resulted in the de facto resignation of American President Ronald Reagen from the offices of leadership in the ISAF, the American alliance. Several accusations were leveled against the Committee for State Security (KGB) that espionage and sabotage actions have been undertaken by Russian officials against America, however as of now, there is no evidence to substantiate these claims and other parties have accepted responsibility for these actions.
