The Empire of Ostigardia, simply referred to as Ostigardia, is an Absolute Monarchy currently ruled by Emperor Chulyin. It is located within some of the territory once known as Alaska. Ostigardia has 20 districts, with each being named after their respective capital cities. In terms of social policies, Ostigardia leans towards moderate policies. In terms of economic policies, Ostigardia leans towards far-left policies. Ostigardia also holds the position of Antarctic Coast Guard within Antarctica Alliance.
History:[]
The fledgling age (June 2023 - August 2023)[]
Early years[]
Corvia was born from the ashes of the nation once known as the Republic of Alaska during the Alaskan civil war. Upon gaining independence from Alaska, the newly born technocratic republic began developing itself and expanding their territory. During this period, Corvia elected its first Director, Gabriel Lockwood. Gabriel Lockwood, a well-known scientist prior to Corvia's birth, spent his term growing the borders of his nation, and advancing it technologically.
Joining the Fallen Angels of Orbis[]
Prior to joining the alliance, Corvia found itself being the butt of many raids from much larger nations from various alliances. After being pressured by his government, Gabriel Lockwood decided to have Corvia join one of the many alliances on Orbis. The very first alliance that Corvia joined was Singularity, though they left shortly after joining. Eventually, Corvia applied to join an alliance known as the Fallen Angels of Orbis, a breakaway alliance that was once a part of the Orbis Peace Organization.
FAO-OPO reunification[]
Corvia's time in the Fallen Angels of Orbis would be brief, as the Fallen Angels of Orbis would soon be peacefully re-absorbed by the Orbis Peace Organization during a time period within the OPO known as the "Age of Unity". During this time span, Corvia would hold the position of Head of Military Affairs.
The Pirate War[]
At some point in time, Corvia would be on the receiving end of an extortion threat by a member of Arrgh. This member nations name is unknown as of now, so it was referred to by the Corvian government as "The Pirate Nation". When Corvia refused to give in to The Pirate Nations demands for money, a raid war between Corvia and The Pirate Nation broke out. Both sides were evenly matched throughout the course of the war, up until The Pirate Nation dropped a nuclear bomb on Ravenspire, the capitol city of Corvia. Half of Ravenspire was destroyed from the attack. As a result of the bombing, Corvia sent out a call for help to various members of the Orbis Peace Organization. Corvia would almost immediately receive financial and military aid from Kant of MI-Landing, and Catadognic of Poltranat. As a result of the aid provided, Corvia would be able to defeat The Pirate Nation by an extremely narrow margin.
OPO civil war[]
During this period, Corvia would witness the splintering of the Orbis Peace organization after MI-Landing accused Poltranat of attempting a Coup. When fighting between both nations broke out, Corvia would withdraw from the Orbis Peace Organization in a panic. This move would have Director Gabriel Lockwood be on the receiving end of harsh criticism by the government. After the civil war ended with the Formation of the splinter alliances "Nations of Neutrality" and "National Peoples Union", Meefy of the Yeetybois Empire would reach out to Corvia and Poltranat, and convince them to rejoin the Orbis Peace Organization.
OPO-Maurya Empire war[]
After a period of reconstruction and inactivity, Corvia, along with the rest of the Orbis Peace Organization, would find itself at war with an alliance known as the Maurya Empire, whose reason for the war declaration against the Orbis Peace Organization was "Target Practice". Thinking that the war would be easy, Director Gabriel Lockwood would get cocky and release some bold statements claiming that the Orbis Peace organization would defeat the "Maurya Empire". Unfortunately for Gabriel, he would soon pay a heavy price for his arrogance. The war between the Orbis Peace Organization and the Maurya Empire would result in a victory for the Maurya Empire, who left Corvia in a battered and weakened state. After this embarrassing defeat, the Corvian people would almost collectively agree that new leadership was required. When the directorial elections came around, the National Workers Bloc, a centrist-left leaning political party within the Corvian government, would win the directorial elections, effectively putting their chosen candidate, Sloan Heathers, in the position of Director.
The stagnation age (November 2023 - February 2024)[]
The Aqua War[]
When the conflict known today as "The Aqua War" broke out, Corvia was one of the OPO members who voted in favor of joining the Aqua Coalition, led by the alliance known as the "Antartica Alliance". Together, with the assistance of Nations of Neutrality (now merged with The Commonwealth), The Commonwealth, Mercenaries of Orbis (now merged with The Commonwealth), The Shrekolytes, and a few other alliances who sided with the Aqua Coalition, Corvia would join the fight against The Coal Mines. Corvia would face of against some member nations of The Coal Mines, with the most notable ones being "The Mars Syndicate", "Preussen", and the "United States Of Eldia". Despite Corvia losing two out of the three battles, Corvia would eventually see The Aqua War end in a stalemate, with both sides claiming that they won. In spite of the beatings they endured, Corvia's population seemed to be unaffected by the consequences of their involvement with the war.
December spy attacks[]
On the 1st of December, the Corvian government received word that the spies of the CIW were being killed off by multiple unknown nations. Over the course of the next 4 days, all 60 spies from the CIW would be killed off by unknown attackers. On December 5th, an Aequitas International member nation known as "The Soviet Federation" would suddenly launch airstrikes on Ravenspire. Caught off guard by the sudden attacks, the Corvian government would soon request assistance from Antartica Alliance. Director Sloan Heathers would then announce that Plumbago, the nation in charge of AA, had warned The Soviet Federation to stand down or be countered. Soon after this warning was issued, The Soviet Federation would stand down and withdraw, drawing a sigh of relief from Corvian citizens.
OPO and TSKY join forces:[]
On the 22nd of December, The Shrekolytes struck a deal with Catadognic to merge with the OPO for an undisclosed amount of time. During this period, Corvia opted to hold a vote to change the flag currently being used. The vote concluded with 4 members voting in favor of new flag A, 1 member voting in favor of keeping the current flag, and the rest of the OPO members abstaining.
OPO February elections:[]
In the middle of February, 2024, Director Sloan Heathers would announce that Corvia would be participating in an election for the leadership of the OPO against the current leader at the time, Poltranat. After a couple days of campaigning, the election results would be announced. The election ended in a draw. As a result, no changes in leadership within the OPO were made.
Knights Templar ambushes the OPO:[]
A few days after the February 2024 elections within the OPO, Corvia, and the rest of the OPO would suddenly be subjected to a surprise raid attack from numerous members of "The Knights Templar", an alliance known to be very powerful. Despite being caught off guard, Corvia would launch counter-attacks against the raiders, and would manage to defeat 2 out of the three raiders attacking them. The onslaught was far from over however, as two more member nations of The Knights Templar would declare war on Corvia. By the time the war was over, Corvia was militarily exhausted.
The militarization age (March 2024 - May 2024)[]
Rise of the Party of Commissariats:[]
After some time had passed, the second Corvian Directorial elections were around the corner. A new political party, known as the "Party of Commissariats", had recently been founded by a man named "Rowan Maximus". Rowan was known within the political landscape of Corvia for his passionate political speeches, and his militaristic views. This would sway the population of Corvia to his side in the polls, where he was predicted to defeat the current Director, Sloan Heathers, in a landslide victory. Sure enough, Rowan defeated Sloan in the Directorial elections, effectively making him the third director of Corvia. With Rowans voctory, most of Corvia's sectors would elect members of the Party of Commissariats into positions of power. Rowans first act was to pass a decree that would change Corvias national flag.
Corvia becomes Head Officer of the OPO:[]
On March 30th, 2024, Catadognic, after being pressured, stepped down as Head Officer of the OPO. Corvia, due to being Second in Command, immediately assumed the position of Head Officer. After becoming Head Officer of the OPO, Director Rowan Maximus announced that he would be re-instating the previous democratic government, which originally had been disbanded by Catadognic. Rowan Maximus also announced that major reforms to the OPO would be enacted.
The reclamation of Anchorage:[]
April 17th, 2024, would mark a historic day in Corvia's history. On this day, Director Rowan Maximus, and the Governing Council would pass a resolution to "Rebuild, repopulate, and reclaim the lost city of Anchorage". Prior to the passing of this resolution, the city of Anchorage was an unpleasant memory in the minds of the Corvian population, for Anchorage was the capitol of the Republic of Alaska prior to its collapse after the Alaskan civil war. However, people across Corvia began to change their views of Anchorage once Corvia decided to reconstruct it. Once Anchorage was fully rebuilt, it was made the official capital city of the brand-new Anchorage district. The Corvian government would soon celebrate the occasion with a military parade throughout the newly reconstructed city.
Joining Antarctica Alliance:[]
On May 12th, 2024, Director Rowan Maximus would announce to the people of Corvia that Corvia would be resigning as Head Officer of the OPO, and would also be leaving the OPO in favor of joining Antarctica Alliance. When questioned by reporters as to what prompted this choice, the Director stated the following:
"The time for Corvia to grow stronger than ever before is upon us. And if we need to depart from the OPO in order to do so, than so be it."
The decision, despite being met positively from the population, would meet some pushback from the more left-wing elements within the government. The Director also stated that there were big changes coming to the nation soon.
Constitutional Reforms:[]
On the 15th of May, Rowan Maximus announced to the populace that the Governing Council had approved a proposal to reform the Corvian constitution. The reforms would change Corvia's government type, leadership titles, and would merge the police into the military. The reforms would also ban the existence of far-left and far-right political parties. This would prompt a response from the Corvian Communist Party (CCP) and the National Patriots League (NPL), who promised retaliation against the government's "unconstitutional" actions. Approximately 14 hours after President Rowan Maximus announced the constitutional reforms, anti-government riots in the districts of Aryumen, New Yukon, and Altamira broke out. Three units from the CGF were deployed to the districts to quell the riots, which would result in a clash between CGF soldiers and the anti-government protesters. Eventually, the CGF managed to regain control of the situation, and dispersed the protestors in all three districts. After an investigation was launched into the cause of the riots, it was determined that leading figures of the Corvian Communist Party and the National Patriot League had organized the riots. As a result of this, President Rowan Maximus ordered the arrest of all members of the CCP and the NPL. All members of the CCP were captured by the CGF. While most of the members of the NPL were also captured, the leading figures of the NPL managed to evade arrest and go into hiding.
Knight-on-Knight Violence:[]
On June 13th, The Knights Templar launched an attack on Apocalypse Knights, an Antarctica Alliance protectorate. Subsequently, Corvia was pulled into the war. During the war, Corvia surprisingly wasn't attacked by any members of TKT, which allowed the CIW to carry out spy attacks on TKT members without much trouble. On June 18th, the war ended with an Antarctica Alliance victory. Corvia would exit the war with almost no damage, with the exception of half of the CIW being killed off by unknown enemy spies towards the end of the war. These results would boost morale and support for the government, which would greatly help the Party of Commissariats do well in the polls prior to the upcoming presidential elections.
Corvia transforms into Saphron:[]
The 15th of July would mark a major historical day for Corvia. On this day, Corvia would change its name to "Saphron" after the governing council passed a resolution to change the name of the nation. Why the government decided to change the name of the country is unknown, but some sources say the reasoning behind this event was because is supposedly "sounded cooler". The change was met with relative apathy from the population, who could care less what the country was called. After the country's name was officially changed to Saphron, the military branches of Saphron had their own names changed.
The ascension age: (May 2024-Present)[]
August elections:[]
After many delays, Saphron finally managed to hold another presidential election after Rowan Maximus resigned from the position due to his age. After elections concluded, Atticus Whiteford, a member of the Party of Commissariats, was elected as the 4th President of Saphron. President Atticus would then make a speech at his inauguration promising to carry on his predecessor's work as president.
Rise of Ostigardia:[]
On December 16th, 2024, after 8 months of media blackout, it was revealed that the former Federal Republic of Saphron had been dissolved after the military peacefully overthrew the government. The Newly crowned Emperor, Chulyin Smithson, made an announcement proclaiming the formation of the Empire of Ostigardia. The response to the announcement was met with heavy resistance by the citizens at first, but they soon grew to accept the new regime.
Government structure:[]
Emperor:[]
This is the highest position in the Ostigardian Government. The emperor wields absolute control over the empire, like most imperial leaders would. The emperor also is tasked with writing the laws of the empire, and sending them to the Governing Council. The emperor also wields absolute control over the military.
Governing Council:[]
This is considered to be the third highest position in the government. As stated previously, the Governing Council consists of 20 representatives, who are each elected from the 18 districts. They are tasked with voting on and approving laws provided to them by the Emperor. The laws that they approve are applied to all 20 districts.
District Representatives:[]
This position is held by the 20 members of the Governing Council. Each district representee is elected by the citizens of their respective sectors. They are tasked with administrating their respective districts and managing the Governing Council when required to do so.
District Councils:[]
This position is at the bottom of the government tiers. They are smaller versions of the Governing Council that are restricted to their respective district. Much like the Governing Council, the District Councils are tasked with voting on and approving laws provided to them by their respective Sector Representatives.
