History[]
Orcusvia formally declared independence from Italy on March 7th, 2021, following the outbreak of civil war and almost distinction of the Orcusvian race. On this date, many of the ancestors of modern day Orcusvia citizens fled by boat to a remote part of South America where they began to settle down, eventually voting King Charles as the monarch of the nation. The royal family still remains in power; With King Charles son, Prince Alxxander preparing to take the throne upon his father's retirement
In order to further the future of Orcusvia, the first act of the Monarch was to join The Armed Peacekeepers in order to provide safety and security to their people in this time of need. The alliance helped to support the infrastructural and military development of Orcusvia, allowing for the nation to eventually join the parent alliance, The Fighting Pacifists, where Prince Alxxander joined the Ministries of Tough Love and Unity. The nation is yet to claim additional land from other settlements.
In its early days, Prince Alxxander authorised the Orcusvia Skeleton Crew, the nation's army, to conduct raids against other inactive nations outside of alliances in order to help train and enhance its armed forces for a short time. The nation eventually made a switch to a production and commerce based economy, but continues to support its alliance in defending itself. As of today, Prince Alxxander remains a Captain on the Ministry of Tough love, and now holds an lead role in managing and working within the Academy and Admissions positions of the Ministry of Unity.

The consumption of Weed in Orcusvia is heavily restricted, with the main usage being medicinal purposes, where controlled prescription of the drug will be permitted in small quantities and early refills are difficult to manage. Although legal, the consumption of alcohol is frowned upon by much of the Orcusvian society and can carry heavy fines for alcohol related crimes
When reaching the legal age to join the Orcusvian Skeleton Crew, 18 years old, citizens are encouraged to volunteer to take part in serving for the Armed Forces. However, in cases of proven voluntary unemployment, citizens may be required to join the Armed Forces to further take part in society.
Capital punishment has long been eradicated in the nation following the passing of the Human Rights Convention in the late 20th Century.
The state provides education to all up until the point of Secondary education qualification of an Academic diploma, Education to this point is free and available to all students, although there is no obligation to attend after the age of 16 which will result in the General education diploma. The Government of Orcusvia is committed to offering free post-secondary education to all citizens, but due to the current economy state of the country this system is only offered to highly achieved students, with a flat tuition freeze across the country. Despite protest, The royal family stands firm on their decisions but voices that they hope one day to offer secondary education to anyone who desires to further their learning.
Thanks to the economic support the nation received upon the joining of The Fighting Pacifists, Orcusvia has been using nuclear power since its origin and hopes to continue down the path of supporting renewable sources of energy.
Orcusvia has permitted the use of assisted suicide as a valid prescription for those struggling with chronic and terminal conditions. This prescription is a highly monitored process in hopes of avoiding misuse of the system. Due to the tight restrictions, some citizens opt to travel to other countries with looser restrictions to receive the diagnosis.
The progressive nature of this Parliament has changed the legal definition of marriage to include any adult that wishes to be married to the partner, regardless of the sex. There is an ongoing discussion by government about the legality of polyamorous marriages, which are currently unrecognized in a legal setting. Parliament has committed to maintaining freedom in marriage and encourages religious institutions to follow suit, with the intention of making marriage an option for all.
The state is committed to paying a providing publicly funded elections, to ensure all accounts are transparent. That being said, the treasury department has legislated to allow for donations by corporations and individuals to electoral campaigns, although there are limits to how much money can be donated in order to promote fair elections.
Within reason, free speech is protected in Orcusvia and all citizens are entitled to expression and their opinion. The Government are committed to preserving this and enshrining it within the country's constitution.
The treasury department in Orcusvia has introduced concrete legislation to prevent borrowing of money and always aiming to maintain a balanced budget, with profit always favoured. The introduction of strict spending limits by the treasury department prevents overspending and helps to prevent crises in the cost of living, ensuring the Government is able to provide for all citizens at all times where required.
Rights of children are protected by law in Orcusvia, and this include infantile circumcision. Children should have the right to choose what happens to their bodies at adulthood, and irreversible changes based on parental decisions are strictly forbidden. In adulthood, every person has the right to decide what happens to their body.
Immigration into Orcusvia is encouraged, although there are strong quotas set to prevent uncontrolled immigration. A points system, much like the one used in Australia, has been adopted by Orcusvia to ensure skilled-immigration is prioritised. That being said, immigration of all kinds is still encouraged.
In line with the position of the United Kingdom on gun ownership, firearms are strongly prohibited and carry a heavy penalty.
Everyone in Orcusvia is permitted to practice religion freely; however, the Government endorses the national religion of Paganism. This is the religion that the monarchy practices and the Government continues to endorse, including the building of the Glorious Temple of Orcus of the nation. There is a large spread of religions practiced in Southshire, including Christianism, and Atheism.
Orcusvia builds on typically European values following its separation and provides healthcare that is free at the point of access to all its citizens. For the tourists visiting, there is a small charge at the point of access for healthcare, although this is a flat rate across the board and is only payable once when seeking specific treatment. The nation has a less than 10% disease rate, and is always working to reduce this, with near-global access to hospitals in all of its cities. Abortion is permitted by the law of the land within the first half of the pregnancy, regardless of circumstances. Abortion is further permitted later in the pregnancy in the event of medical emergencies, but prohibited otherwise.
A progressive income tax is used by the Government, taxing all citizens at the same base rate over and above a tax-free threshold. Earners over £50,000 per annum are taxed at a higher rate, with the rate of tax increasing for income above £200,000 and £850,000 per annum. Taxation in Orcusvia is then distributed to Governmental departments, as well as provide universal credit for those in need of state support.

Culturally, Orcusvia had a predominantly pescatarian-based diet due to the proximity to the ocean. That being said, the most popular form of cooking in the country is similar to italian with many culturally traditional meals still prepared daily

Orcusvia was a part of The Armed Peacekeepers alliance and was initially just a member of the alliance. The Armed Peacekeepers is a Lime alliance that is an extension of The Fighting Pacifists. Following some time in the alliance, Orcusvia progressed into The Fighting Pacifists where they joined the Milcom and Internal Affairs committee, before progressing to an oversight role, specializing in the Academy.
Orcusvia has recently committed to maintaining its role in The Fighting Pacifists , and no parliamentary official has intention of proposing a motion to leave.
