Hino,[note 2] is a red-bloc, C25, raiding nation founded by Yintel on September 4, 2024. A member of Samurai, the nation mainly serves as Propaganda Captain with minor roles in internal affairs.

It is the player's fourth nation and third reroll. Founded after an absence of nearly two years, the nation prioritizes casual gameplay and social interaction rather than specific long-term objectives.

The nation garners modest recognition for its theme—largely during commemorative events—receiving a range of messages varying from negative remarks like "Only virgins like you enjoy this type of anime" to playful comments such as "Who wants deer crackers?".

Hino adopts a stringent pirate ideology, a longstanding informal tradition maintained by Yintel since they began playing in December 2020, influenced by the raiding policy of the defunct alliance Black Skies. Like Duoland, the nation does not consider peace offers from raid targets, but Hino actively declares war on nations within alliances, disregarding any risk of being countered.

History

2024

Yintel returned to the game and founded Hino on September 4, 2024, at 04:20 pm (all times in UTC). About forty minutes later, the nation applied to Samurai, where it still remains to this day.[6]

On September 10, at 12:40 pm, Yintel was manually verified as an independent player.[4]

As a member of Camelot's coalition with Samurai, Hino participated in Dance of the Dragons, with its first raid taking place on November 1, 11:57 pm. After having dealt $35.12 million in damages within the first two days,[7][8] Hino went fully inactive on Discord and Politics and war for almost two weeks.[9]

2025

In early 2025, Hino set personal raiding records, having looted more than $1,000,000,000 by January 29 and won over 200 wars by February 18, the first among Yintel's four nations to do so.[10]

On April 16 at 4:00 am, Hino lost its independent player verification.[11] The nation was verified for 217 days.

Late into the war, the nation eventually became involved in RoseFall as a member of Camelot's coalition with Samurai on April 13, 11:17 am, targeting low-tier nations. By the time Samurai left the conflict, the nation had dealt over $219 million in net damages.[12]

On May 2, the nation built 15 cities en masse, moving up tiers to C20.[13]

On August 15, the nation was promoted to Bushido of Internal Affairs in Samurai;[14] It resigned the position the following day due to inactivity concerns. On September 3, the nation co-established Samurai's Propaganda Affairs department and was promoted to serve as PA Captain.[5]

On September 4, at 4:20 pm, Hino became the first of Yintel's four nations in the game to have existed for at least a year.[5]

The nation was one of the first to blitz in Big Bang! and eventually dealt over $830 million in damages to the opposing coalition.[15]

The design elements of the nation are primarily derived from, or influenced by, the anime adaptation of My Deer Friend Nokotan (Japanese: しかのこのこのここしたんたん, Hepburn: Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan). The national flag features a silhouette of the anime's main protagonist, Noko Shikanoko, while the cover image depicts a scene from the anime's portrayal of Hino. The cities within the nation are also themed to align with the various settings depicted in the anime.

Factbook

Hino's factbook is largely factual, as most of it is taken from the Wikipedia page for Hino, Tokyo. However, the military history section is inspired by a gag from My Deer Friend Nokotan.[16]

Hino is renowned for its large spending towards its deer army. Shika shika. They are unstoppable.

City theming convention

Hino names and takes the covers for its cities from settings in My Deer Friend Nokotan, except for Eisei-toshi, Orezo, and Owl Club, which are themed to reference Hino's three predecessor nations instead.

Scrapped designs

Yintel initially planned to theme the nation around Borås, Sweden, inspired by Bara i Borås, a meme that gained popularity around February 2022,[19] the Swedish counterpart of Only in Ohio. However, the idea was discarded when the game’s naming system rejected "Borås" due to the special character "å", which is not part of the standard English alphabet. Briefly, Yintel considered reusing the theme of their first nation, Trexizia, but found it unoriginal and uninspired. They also contemplated a theme based on Tokyo, specifically as portrayed in Oshi no Ko, though this was also abandoned due to the prevalence of Tokyo- and Japan-themed nations in the game.

Commemorative designs

Hino adopts temporary themes to commemorate past nations and significant dates. This practice mirrors the approach taken in earlier nations, such as Duoland, which incorporated design elements from Trexizia and Satellite State on their dates of creation or deletion. Specific dates were designated to commemorate the Pizza Kingdom the three predecessor nations to Hino, and the nation's anniversaries.

  • Trexizia theme – Marks the anniversary of the founding of The Democratic Republic of Trexizia. Visual elements were adapted to mirror Trexizia’s red-green, natural landscape iconography and color scheme, including a themed flag, a leader portrait of Marcus Craddock, and a nation cover featuring a city view of Hino, Tokyo.
  • Christmas theme – Recurring seasonal redesign introduced in late November. The nation’s flag, cover, and character depictions were modified with Christmas motifs, while core city and military visuals remained unchanged.
  • Duoland theme – A nod to Duoland, featuring temporary visual changes aligned with Duoland-associated imagery and symbolism.
  • Satellite State theme – Referencing Satellite State, incorporating the lazy, black-and-white, invisible PNG elements tied to the defunct nation.
  • Anniversary theme – A celebratory design revamping the nation's page every September 4 commemorating the nation's 2024 creation. It includes a dedicated celebratory flag, related visual adjustments, and an in-game ad with text MY NATION TURNS 1 TODAY!!11!.

Other flags

Before adopting its current standard flag, Hino used the default Swedish flag, and a scene from My Deer Friend Nokotan, in which the protagonist, Noko Shikanoko, is shown laying down on her side while eating deer crackers. The latter was replaced by the current, standard, and third flag around 4:00 pm UTC.

Roleplay aspect

Pictured, left to right: Kinu Tanukikoji, Chiharu Tsubameya, Neko Nekoyamada, Noko Shikanoko, and Torako Koshi.

Torako Koshi has been the nation's president since 2024, also serving the role of most cabinet roles except Vice President (Neko Nekoyamada), Secretary of State (Kinu Tanukikoji), and Secretary of the Treasury (Chiharu Tsubameya).

Although the nation inherits a parliamentary government system, Koshi rules the nation under a strongman fascist rule to prevent her sister Anko Koshi wrecking the Deer Club again, which she canonically described as her "utopia."[21]

As the army general, Noko Shikanoko dispatches the nation's deer army almost every day at 7 pm JST to raid for profit. Anko Koshi heads the nation's air force, while Meme Bashame heads the nation's navy and is the deputy secretary of the nation's Department of Natural Resources and Rice.

The nation's National Assembly or Parliament is comprised of all aforementioned people excluding the President and Vice President, and is divided into two factions: Deer Club and Student Council, with the former forming a 3-2 majority in the legislature. As leader of the majority faction, Shikanoko assumes the role of National Animal.
